JOIN THE LAWCHESTRA!

Queensland Law Orchestra (‘Lawchestra’) is a symphony community orchestra organised by the TLF Creative, comprising law students, solicitors, barristers and other members of the legal profession from Brisbane. We also provide opportunities for smaller chamber groups to perform at TLF Creative and other industry events. The Lawchestra is a fun and welcoming environment for people involved with the law in Brisbane to continue (or revive) their passion for music-making.

What skill level is required?

We are seeking musicians of all abilities and skill levels (especially any additional string, brass and percussion players), so don’t be afraid if you haven’t picked up your instrument for a while! We do not hold any auditions.

Non-legal professionals and non-law students are welcome!

A few of our members are ‘friends of the law’ - they are not part of the legal profession or a law student. We also welcome those who are interested in playing as part of a community orchestra generally - and we’re particularly looking for additional brass players!

When can I join?

You are welcome join our rehearsals at any time. The initial two rehearsals you attend are free, followed by a low annual membership fee, so come along anytime to try out! We rehearse fortnightly from February to November at the Old Museum Building in Bowen Hills. If you are interested in joining Lawchestra’s rehearsals, or staying up to date on our events and future music or arts initiatives, please fill out the Expression of Interest Form. Our upcoming concerts are:

  • Sunday 19 April 2026 - Suits and Scrubs - Queensland Medical Orchestra (QMO) and Lawchestra - Edmund Rice Performing Arts Centre.

  • Sunday 7 June 2026 - Bands in Park Concert - Brisbane City Hall. Details to come.
