PREVIOUS INITIATIVES

Big Band

Between 2020 to 2023, TLF Creative ran the Lawchestra Big Band to allow a more diverse range of instrumentalists to participate in our ensembles - including saxophones, trombones, trumpets, guitar, bass, keyboard and drums. The Big Band rehearsed on Tuesdays in the Old Museum Building in alternating fortnights to the Lawchestra.

Legally Bound Book Club

In 2021-2022, TLF Creative in collaboration with Level Twenty Seven Chambers hosted a book club called Legally Bound. Meetings were held quarterly as an informal conversation group for law students, legal practitioners and advisors to read and discuss non-fiction and fiction texts which raise issues impacting the law.

PREVIOUS EVENTS

As well as our musical ensembles, TLF Creative hold a variety of events.

In 2019, our panel event titled ‘Arts, Law and Life: Perspectives from the Profession’ brought together a panel of individuals who have achieved success in both legal and creative pursuits, and also included performances by our string quintet.

In 2020, we hosted a launch event featuring performances by his Honour Judge Dearden of the District Court and our Lawchestra flute choir, as well as an online trivia event.

Beginning our expansion to the visual arts in 2021, we hosted our annual launch event at Brush and Barrel Newstead and organised a group tour to see the European Masterpieces exhibition at GOMA.

In 2022, our annual launch event was held at Birrunga Gallery & Dining in Brisbane City and featured a panel discussion on the intersection of the arts, law and wellbeing. A broad cross-section of the legal profession was represented on the panel, and Brisbane-based brass quintet Brass Half Full as well as members of the LawchestraQ flute section provided musical entertainment throughout the night.
